Autoimmune Hepatitis, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) are key autoimmune liver/biliary diseases.
Autoimmune hepatitis presents with acute or insidious hepatitis features; diagnosed with autoantibodies (SMA) and hypergammaglobulinaemia.
Tx: Prednisolone, azathioprine
PBC typically presents in middle-aged women with pruritus and fatigue; diagnosed with Anti-Mitochondrial Antibodies (AMA).
Tx: Ursodeoxycholic acid
PSC is strongly associated with Ulcerative Colitis and has a characteristic ‘beading’ appearance on MRCP/ERCP. pANCA antibodies.
