VULVAL INJURIES
VULVAL INJURIES
Lacerations and tears of the vulval skin in the posterior region and the paraurethral tear on the inner aspect of the labia minora are the common sites. Paraurethral tear can cause excessive bleeding. It should be stitched by interrupted polyglactin, vicryl, or catgut sutures after introduction of a Foley's catheter into the bladder to avoid taking stitches in urethra. Catheter can be left for twenty-four hours as the woman may have difficulty in passing urine in early puerperium.
